Sew with me! 2025 Designer Mystery Block of the Month from Fat Quarter Shop-Block 6 – Silver Lining

[Music] Hi guys, it’s Andrea. I’m back with another sew with me for the 2025 designer mystery block of the month block six from Fat Quarter Shop. Um, this one was designed by Heather Briggs. I’ll link Fat Quarter Shop down below in the description box if you want to check them out. This is going to end at 12 and 1/2 by 12 and 1/2. I already have my pieces cut. Let’s get started. First up, K and I. And I is going to snowball in this top left corner. So, so corner to corner down the middle. Oops. Right sides together. Reminding myself. Okay. All right, I’m going to have to pull these because we’re building on it. I’m still working on my quilt on the side here. You’ll see me using these as leaders and enders. I’m making a postage stamp quilt out of my 1 and 1/2 in scraps. Okay, let’s cut these apart. Here’s a finished Nine patch finished side piece. Trim about a four of an inch away from that stitch. Flip and press. I just got this in today. So, it’s hot off the presses. Okay. Now, it’s going to have H right here. I’m just going to flip them like this. So, the smaller’s on the top. Won’t you come and rain? [Music] Y’all, it was such a beautiful day today. Like the prettiest day we’ve had in ages. It was like stepping into a lukewarm bath. It’s like the same temperature as your body outside, but with a very nice breeze. Beautiful blue skies. It was quite lovely. It was It was going to press to the addition that rectangle we just added. And it’s going to have G right here. I did finally get to the post office box. No packages. So frustrating. But I did mail out a bunch of stuff. So if you’re waiting on the giveaway, it’s on the way. I had a couple of giveaways in there. Speaking of which, I did post the winner winner chicken dinner quilt video today. So be sure and check that out if you haven’t watched it. It was posted today for the quiltery giveaway. I cut all of these wrong or these are running a little bit larger. I bet I overcut them a little bit. They’re running a little bit larger than the Let’s see what size it’s supposed to be. Three and a half. Shoot. Whoops. No, the block’s a little bit small. How did I manage that? Leave it to me. Next up, B. This is a tone on tone, so watch that. Right sides together. Put it in the corner here. Corner to corner down of the middle. Go. Cut these apart. We’re going to trim a four of an inch away from that stitch line and press. The heck? Whoopsie. Okay, next D here. And I’m going to turn this upside down so I put the small on the top. Let me measure these again. I’m going to have to use some witchy wise. It’s short over here. So, I’m going to pretend like this is it’s not short. And I’m just going to catch that. See? Catch it. [Music] Witch. See how high she’s [Music] just made short work of that. Okay, this one’s really short. [Music] So lovers break [Music] and see right here. And then I’ll rememeasure after we add this guy. See if I’ve helped the cause of the undersized box. What the hey? I don’t know what’s going on. The geological oddity. Two weeks from everywhere. Cool points. Super cool points if you know what that’s from because it’s one of my all-time favorite movies. Well, isn’t this a geological odyssey? Two weeks from everywhere. What do fall in love? Okay, now this section is supposed to measure four and a half. So, let’s see. Let’s see how she measures up. She is still short. She’s an eighth of an inch short here and an eighth of an inch short. Half of an eighth of an inch short. No, eighth of an inch short here. It’s the story of my life. Now, we’re making flying geese units out of A and F. Again, watch that tone on tone. Right sides together, corner to corner. [Music] Why do they fall in love? trim. Flip and press. And the other side. These are looking good at least. Those are lining up nicely. stuffed. I had a Whopper for supper and then Sam and I went and ate sushi for lunch. So, I had been eating like a queen today. Queen Andrea. Sushi for lunch and burgers for supper. I hadn’t had sushi in forever cuz my favorite sushi place shut down and we’ve only got one other place in town and it’s not near as good. You know, I used to go every single week to get sushi, but I broke down and went to the other place. Even though it’s not as good, it satisfied my craving at least. Next is E and L. And again, we’re making flying geese units. I had a spicy salmon roll and an eel and avocado roll and some clear soup. I definitely overordered cuz I was feeding um sushi so bad. I did not I only ate about half of the ill ro rows cuz I was too stuffed from all the rest. I wish we’d get a ramen place here. And I wish we’d get an Indian place here. We don’t have hardly any. of around the worldish top restaurants besides Mexican and we got a dozen of those and a couple of Chinese buffets that are horrible. We do have one Chinese restaurant that’s not a buffet place. It’s it’s basically a takeout place, you know, but it’s all right. So that’s where I go when I want Chinese. There’s that last flying geese from the other set. Think this block’s going to be pretty quick, y’all. Famous last words, but it seems pretty quick and easy. This is the last section of um smaller sub pieces. We’ll be sticking it together next. There’s those. Now I’ll start putting it together. We’ve got to put these Wait, what? What’s happening? these together to make these. These make these. I’m a poet. Didn’t know it. Make a rhyme any time. This fabric’s really pretty. It’s really, to me, much prettier in person than it is in pictures. It’s very soft collection mean soft looking. It is soft feeling as well but I’m meaning soft looking soft colors. Okay. Press these. And we’re pressing them to this guy. Oops. Okay. This with this. These two together, everything’s coming up shorter. Oh, well, I’m just going to have a smaller. Probably all my blocks are smaller than they’re supposed to be, if I know me. I don’t know why. There we go. J in the middle. this at the bottom. What? Huh? Oh, okay. Sneezy. Excuse me. I’m lining up the brown on these blocks the same. Okay, we’re pressing to the corners on the top and bottom and the center on the middle. Okay, this one’s lining up nice. See, I’m lining up on this seam. The brown Here’s the bottom row. I do really like this block. Do don’t y’all? It’s a very cool block. Okay, let’s see how these fit together. My points are very pretty. I will say that about it. Think I’m gonna get my pins out. Serious business is a foot. I feel like this designer mystery this year has been a little more advanced. What about y’all? Some of these blocks have been pretty tricky. It’s tricky to rock around to rock. That’s right on time. I think it’s waffle. That’s not tricky. Tricky trick. Here we go. Oh man. Wouldn’t rum say awesome back in the day. Looks good. Okay, let me pull these off. What was y’all’s favorite remnis or another one? I’m going to say mine’s my favorite is tricky. I did really like um walk this way too though. I prefer that their an Aerrol Smith’s version to just Aerrol Smith’s version. Girl, you are a hot mess. This thing is a hot mess. Shoot. Should I scoot this over a little? This is overhang over here. So severe. I’m going to rip it. I’m going to rip it. I think I can make it better. I think it’ll make a difference if I rip it. Scoot it over. I don’t know. I pinned it for goodness sake. That doesn’t obviously it doesn’t uh guarantee success. I guess I did not do a great job pinning. Don’t you start ripping, girl. I’m going to oops upside your head in a minute. Freaking nose is running again. I ripped my fabric a little bit. Need a I don’t have any scraps big enough to wipe my nose. My great niece was playing in my bathtub yesterday and I guess she decided to throw away my sponge gel into my quilty scraps. I just discovered it. Let’s do this. Tricky tricky tricky tricky. I’m going to line up some other seams, too. I’m so mad I ripped that fabric. This better look better after all this drama. All right, fingers crossed, y’all. Fingers crossed. Much better. It is better. I mean, this one’s still overhanging over. This one’s still short over here, but Okay. Yeah, it’s better. It’s best as I can get it. Everything’s lined up except this one edge. There’s that stupid tear. I’m going to have to pray that the quilting can. If I still had a zigzag, I would zigzag over it. Anyway, lined up good. Lined up good. This is lined up good. But the only thing is this is a See this? I’ll lose these points, but I can’t help it. I might have to put some fusible webbing on this. You know what? because that’s gonna rip for sure in the quilt. Okay. Okay, [Music] tada. As my niece would say, tada. And when I say she was playing in my bathtub, there was no water in it. She just loves my bathtub cuz it’s a huge um you know, it’s a double like a double person whirlpool. So, she just likes to get in it even if there’s no water. It is like a swimming pool to a little. My kids liked to be in it, too, when they were little. Okay. Wow. This turned out pretty good, y’all. I’m I’m happy with that. Except for that rip I did. And it’s Yeah, it’s a little uneven here, right there. But here it’s perfectly even and my seams are lined up. Wow. I’m giving myself a A on this. Not A+ cuz I made a rip. And then this is a little off here. I’ll lose that point for sure. Um, but the rest I’m pleased with it. What do y’all think? Give me a thumbs up if you like the video, guys.
