Sew with me! Flowering Quilt Along by Fat Quarter Shop – Block 8 – I Lilac You

Hey guys, it’s Andrea. I’m back with another sew with me for the flowering quilt along that comes in our so sampler box. This is the block of the month. I lilac you. This is block number eight. This is Yeah, I guess supposed to be lilacs. I’ve already got my fabric cut. I’m using my Lorie Holt stash mostly. Let’s get started. First up, B and A. So, we’re going to be snowballing opposite corners here. I’ve got two different backgrounds. So, corner here, corner here. So, right down the middle, corner to corner. Waiting for Money. I’m doing a scrappy background if you haven’t gathered. But actually still Friday as I’m sewing this for tomorrow’s post. Today’s sew with me didn’t take very long. So I’m going ahead and doing this one, too. It probably won’t take long. Uh oh, bobbin’s out. Yep. Yep. I used every bit of that bobin. Be right back. All right. I just had a little bit of thread left on that roll, so it’s probably going to run out pretty soon again, but I didn’t want to waste it. This is going to be a quilt. Oh, snowballs. Lots of lots and lots of snowballs. Okay, next we’re going to do the light blue. One, two, three, four, five. That’s 20. So, I’m going to do the green though. Let’s see. One, two, three, four. There’s for the green. And then the center of the light blue. Center of light blue. Center of the light blue. center of the light blue. Then I have these four extra and they’re also going to be on the green. Okay, green. And these are all centers of my light blue. So the green is going to be snowballed on both corners. I’m talking to myself, y’all, because I used a different background. I want to make sure my centers are the same fabric. So, this won’t what I’m mumbling about won’t apply to you if you’re using that background like a normal person, not a crazy woman. And then these have I mean we’re snowballing the opposite corners again. Hey, baby girl. Love you. What you doing? Getting your toilet paper so I can poop. Okay. I don’t know if y’all could hear that or not. I went and let myself run out of toilet paper. We’ve got one roll left and we’re sharing. The whole house is sharing the one roll. I do have a pickup tomorrow. I thought the kids had plenty in their pantry. They do not. They do not. My bad. We’re going to put our tree up tomorrow and I can’t wait to wrap presents. Can’t wait. So, it’s good I’m doing this early because I’ll have all day to relax and listen to Christmas music and put the tree up and wrap presents cuz I won’t have any work to do. I need to change out my wall hanging. Something Christmasy. Okay, I’m still working on my block on the side over here. Here you’ll see me doing these oft times. I’m making a postage stamp quilt on my 1 and 1/2 in scraps and I use them as leaders and cut all these apart with my handy dandy cutter. blue and the green and the dark Blue Um, I’m going to go ahead and Well, I’ll wait. Okay, since these aren’t overlapping, you don’t have to cut and press yet if you don’t want to. Okay, on these green, my other side I’ve decided is going to be this background. Again, just talking to myself. And the only reason I did this is because I ran out of that when I was cutting it. because this wasn’t a plan design. This wasn’t Oh, I’m out. What’s next moment? So, now I’m trying to make it look like a plan. All right. The blue I think is all. Yeah, the dark blue is all this. So other side. Don’t. I want to put up a new quilt holder in the living room where my where my little hello pumpkin sign is right now. I’m going to start a new series December 1st. I’m making projects specifically for that area. I need to put some clips up, so I’m going to be changing them out every month. Well, they’ve still got to be quilted and all that. So, probably won’t start till hanging them up. So much here. I think I found the perfect project for that space. So you can see behind me in the camera to mark the seasons in the calendar months. I have those little wooden one little wood clips that I’ve got boxes. I’ve got like Reset problem. I need to put them to use. All right. Now, this these blue eight are going to have green on the corner. then the rest this background. down. Three more. Okay, cut them apart. Y’all, I’ve eaten so many devild eggs today. I mean, it’s crazy. I’m sitting here craving more. I want to go in there and eat more of them. I I’m afraid though. I’m afraid of what that will do to my digestive tract. I had I had a plate of leftovers for lunch. Um I think I put a couple on my plate, one or two, and I might have ate one while I was standing there. I don’t honestly recall, but I don’t know. I went back to the fridge on like two or three times and got eight more just standing at the fridge like a goblin. They’re so good. Oh my god, they’re so good. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. And then Sam was doing the same thing. He opened the fridge and opened the box and ate one standing there in the door. They’re definitely going to be the first um leftover we run out of. Definitely. Cuz I’m about to go eat me one or two more right now. I can’t. I’m just thinking about them. Thinking about them. Sitting there calling my name. Trim about a four of an inch away from your stitch lines. They’re just so creamy and delicious. My devild eggs. I use I put probably three heaping spoonful large spoonfuls of Duk’s mayo. Um this was to 18 eggs by the way. Three huge scoops. It was probably half a cup in each scoop. I don’t even remember. I just wing it. And then a a French’s yellow mustard and a chick of white vinegar and woristershire. And then of course salt and pepper. And that’s it. Mix it up, stuff it up, eat it up. Oh, and then a little dusting of paprika on the top, too. I really wanted a turkey sandwich today, but I didn’t have any fresh white bread. And I got to have fresh white bread for my turkey sandwiches, which we’ve got a Walmart pickup tomorrow. So, I’ll be able to I just kept enough turkey for one sandwich because I’ll be tired of it after that. Gave the rest to mom. The kids don’t eat turkey really. My turkey I felt like was a little dry this year. I’m a little bit overcooked. So, that was disappointing. But everything else was on point. My stitches are looking good. At least finally got that top acting right. I got another advent in today. The Macy’s lipstick advent. So now I just like three or do I just like two? I think I just like Cheese Bros and Bella Rose, but I’ve got tracking on the Cheese Bros one. I haven’t heard. Has anyone heard anything more about the other? Okay, now we’ve got to press all these. Um, I’m going to go press all this to the side because this is going to take me a while and I know this is probably pretty boring for y’all. So, I’ll be right back after I’m done pressing. Okay, let’s start off with the green. We’re only making one of these like this. That’s not right. Like this. Like that. Okay. What? I’m so confus Why am I confusing myself? If the centers go together, then when I turn it, centers. Okay, I think this is right. I’m going to do these blues next since they’re all the same. Let me test out my theory you all before I have to rip half my blocks. Make sure I’m doing them right. What the heck, girl? If I do them all the same, I can flip. And yes, that is correct. Okay, now we have these guys that I’ve got different back backgrounds on. So, it’s going to get complicated on the green ones. I’ll put all the green ones together first. The green is in the outer corner. Well, no, I won’t do them all because these are going to go with them. I’ll do it every other I did get a notification from Fat Quarter Shop that one of my pre-orders is getting ready to come in December. That is the only thing I remember pre-ordering is the quilted farm girl. Can’t wait to get that girl in. I’ve done all of the quilted themed Lori Holmes so far. The the quilted snowman, the quilted scarecrow, the quilted witch, and now it’s the quilted farm girl. So far, the quilted witch has definitely been my favorite. The scarecrow’s on my bed right now. I’m going to I’m not going to put I do have the quilted snowman, but I’m not going to put her on there for December. I’m going to put her on there for January because for December, I want to put my decorating the tree quilt on the bed for the first time. my point of view. Okay, cut all these apart. And I’m going to press them all the same direction because we’re reverse reversing them and then they’ll nest. You know what I mean? Learn. There’s the green. Done. Shouldn’t take me long to press these. So, I’ll keep you with me. Okay, these Light blue are going to go like this with the green on the bottom. I hope this bobbin lasts to the end of this quilt at least. Oh my gosh, y’all. Famous last words again. Let me go change that bobin. Okay, now to Oh, we can put our blues. Yeah, we’re putting our blues together now. The dying shades of Cut all these apart. We’re nearing the finish line, y’all. There’s the blue and the light blue. Whoops. Okay, first row is going to be dark blue, then light blue with the green down here. Next row, this blue with the green here and a green block. The green blocks are going to all be facing the center. And then last row, blue and light blue with green up. And we stay there. And we stay there. Okay, I’m going to press to the I’ll show you as I go. Just like I would a nine patch. First, I’m going to press to the blue, dark blue, and then I’m going to press to the green. And there we should nest. Okay, first row again. Dark blue on the end, green on the bottom. Middle row. Green towards the center. Last row. Blue. Green up. All right. To the blue. To the green. We’ll put these two together. Green towards the center. So, I think I’m going have to bring out the big dogs on this. Let’s get some pins on the scene. I definitely think that will help. pull these off. We have our last stitch of the block coming up. I’ll press this to the blue. And as far as the block goes, I’ll press it to the outsides. One of these hourglasses is perfect. The others are a little off. Now, how does that happen, I tell you? But look how perfect that one is. And then look at this one. It’s only like half of an eighth, though. Last row. Green towards the center. Yellow, purple. I can put these two together. Okay, let’s take a look at her. There she is. Miss America. What do y’all think? See how I put my this fabric that’s the same in the centers and then here I want it’s half and half on the those.
